Acupuncture for Sciatica

Treat Sciatica with Acupuncture

Sciatica is a pain that occurs through the lower back - reaching, in most cases, to one leg.  It is caused when a herniated disk or bone spur presses on the sciatic nerve.  This can happen as a result of an injury from a car accident or physical activity.  The condition is actually very common, likely due to the fact that the “sciatic nerve” is a significantly large nerve that has 5 roots stemming from the spinal cord. The pain associated with sciatica can be very severe – and while pain killers and anti-inflammatories are the most likely treatment, they offer only temporary relief, whereas acupuncture therapy can provide even more beneficial, long term results.

Acupuncture is a scientifically proven therapy that can manage many types of body pain.  Pain resulting from Sciatica is not any different.  Acupuncture therapy releases natural neurotransmitters that help your body cope with the pain without the use of potentially addictive pain killers.  Scheduling regular therapy is extremely beneficial for pain management from Sciatica and many other conditions as well.

The following are symptoms of Sciatica that can be treated by acupuncture therapy:

·         Radiating, sharp pain from the lower back to the back of the leg.

·         Pain in the lower back and leg area at night

·         Pain in the lower back and leg area while sitting

·         Burning Sensations in the lower back or legs

·         Foot/Leg Numbness

·         Muscle Weakness

If you are experiencing some or all of these symptoms, they could be caused by Sciatica.  Acupuncture therapy can target the specific source of the pain and relieve it naturally and effectively.  While pain killers are designed to affect the entire body, acupuncture therapy is a much more exact process designed to target and relieve pain from the areas of your body that need it most.
